Try these three exercises from Fautrey, Emily & Tanya. These exercises are perfect for stretching lower back and general back muscles as well as other muscles and are suited for all ages, especially if you suffer from stiff or painful back ache. The (Cobra Push Ups) exercise uses the erector spinae, a set of muscles in the back that straighten and rotate the spine. The erector spinae works together with the glutes to maintain stable posture. The erector spinae allows the spine to return to an erect position after bending. It is one of the three true or intrinsic back muscles. The (Bound Angle Pose) exercise uses your psoas muscles (muscles that link your spine to your lower body). These muscles connect the muscles deeper inside your body to ones closer to the surface of your skin. Think of a bridge in the centre of your body that connects many parts and helps you perform motions that use your abdomen and legs at the same time. The (Superman) exercise uses the muscles in the lumbar area of the back which is the most common area of muscle tightness and pain in the back. The Superman exercise helps stretch and strengthen these muscles.
